Ascendant Square Mars

Ascendant represents your body, your make-up and how you present yourself and begin things; Mars, your energy, your desire and the courage to act.

Mars square the Ascendant kindles friction in the expression of self: impatience, irritability, and an assertiveness that stumbles into conflict, with a leaning to rashness and accidents. Well governed, it is courage learning to measure itself.

The square places Mars near the Midheaven or the Imum Coeli. Near the Midheaven, ambition is intense and the person comes into conflict with bosses and competitors; near the Imum Coeli, home and family become a stage for tension. Tradition warns of accidents through haste, especially in a day chart, when Mars is out of its sect. The classical remedy is to give this energy a channel: physical exercise, manual work or a cause worth fighting for.
