1. Data controller

This site is operated under the designation ALMUTEM, a traditional-astrology project bringing together calculation software, original publications, and educational content. For any question regarding the processing of your personal data, contact us at support@al-mutem.com.

2. Data we collect and purposes

  • Newsletter subscription: email address and explicit consent. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). Consent can be withdrawn at any time via the unsubscribe link in each email.
  • Weekly personal transits (lead magnet): when you subscribe to this free service, we collect your email address, your birth date, the time (if you provide it — it is optional), and your place of birth. Unlike the free chart, these values are stored in our database (Postgres, hosted in the EU — Hetzner, Germany), as they are needed to compute and email you, each week, the main transits to your natal chart. Subscription requires email confirmation (double opt-in). Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link in each email — unsubscribing deletes your birth data (see section 5).
  • Free chart calculator: birth date, time, and place. These values are processed in server memory to compute the chart and are not stored in our database nor linked to any personal identifier.
  • Purchase of digital products: when you buy a product, the data needed for payment and delivery (for example, email and billing details) is collected and processed by the Merchant of Record handling the transaction (see section 3). We do not store your payment card details.
  • Traditional Natal Report (PDF): when you order the paid report, the birth data you provide (date, time, and place) is retained transitorily in our systems, linked to the payment request, in order to generate the document and allow you to re-download it. The payment processor receives only an opaque identifier (a nonce) — your birth data is never transmitted to it. The generated PDF and the email given for delivery are likewise retained for that period. Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Mobile app: by default, the ALMUTEM app runs entirely on your device — birth data, saved charts, and location (GPS) are processed and stored locally, without being transmitted to our servers. If you choose to create an account and sign in (an optional feature), your birth data, saved charts, and preferences are synced to our database (Supabase, hosted in the EU) so they are available across your devices; you can sign out and request account deletion at any time. Location (GPS) is never synced, and its conversion into a city name is done offline, on the device. Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) as regards account sync.
  • Aggregated traffic statistics: collected via PostHog (EU Cloud), without cookies and without individual user identification. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — assessing site usage.

3. Sub-processors

Your personal data is shared with the following sub-processors, strictly to the extent necessary for the purposes identified:

Sub-processorPurposeCountry
Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.)Transactional email deliveryUSA (SCC-based transfer)
Loops (Loops, Inc.)Subscriber management and newsletter deliveryUSA (SCC-based transfer)
Dodope Payments Limited (Dodo Payments)Payment processing (Merchant of Record)United Kingdom (adequacy decision)
PostHog (PostHog, Inc.)Traffic and conversion analytics (no cookies, no user profiling)European Union (EU Cloud); US provider under SCC
Hetzner Online GmbHApplication and database hostingGermany (EU)
Supabase, Inc.Account authentication and sync of charts and preferences across the site and app (only with an account)Ireland (EU)

Shop payment processing is carried out by a Merchant of Record, which acts as the legal seller of the transaction and as a sub-processor for that purpose, handling payment, invoicing, and applicable taxes. Its identity is presented at checkout.

4. International transfers

Where data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (Decision 2021/914) or equivalent mechanisms under the GDPR. Our US sub-processors (Resend) are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and are therefore covered by the European Commission's adequacy decision; transfers to the United Kingdom likewise rely on an adequacy decision.

5. Retention periods

  • Newsletter subscribers: until consent is withdrawn or 24 months of inactivity.
  • Weekly personal transits: birth data and email are kept while the subscription remains active. When you unsubscribe, the record is deleted in full from our database (data minimization).
  • Purchase records: retained by the Merchant of Record and the operator for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law.
  • Traditional Natal Report requests: the birth data, the generated PDF, and the delivery email are retained while the download link remains active (until it expires), after which they may be deleted, without prejudice to purchase records required by law.
  • Synced account data (app): retained while the account remains active; deleted after the account is closed.
  • Technical logs: up to 90 days.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to processing, request restriction of processing, and receive your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@al-mutem.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (CNPD), Av. D. Carlos I, 134, 1st floor, 1200-651 Lisbon, or at www.cnpd.pt.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not use advertising tracking cookies. Traffic statistics are collected via PostHog (EU Cloud), which operates without cookies and without fingerprinting. The only data stored in your browser relates to the technical operation of the shopping cart (local storage) and is cleared when you do so.

8. Minors

This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you have reason to believe this has happened, please contact us so we can delete the data.

9. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated. The version currently in force is always the one published on this page, with the date of last update indicated.
