Solar eclipse of 12 August 2026 in Portugal
The path of totality grazes the far northeast of Portugal and gives Rio de Onor half a minute of night. Bragança, twenty kilometres away, misses it by 0.06 per cent. And there is a reason the old astrologers cared about that difference: for them, the percentage of the sun that goes dark was the measure of how much a reading covers.
