Mars represents your energy, your desire and the courage to act; Venus, what you love, what gives you pleasure and the things you value.
The two planets of desire and affection in confrontation, lived in relationship: of all, the one that most kindles desire — but also the one that most easily turns it to conflict. Venus governs attraction and the will to unite; Mars, the need for the ego’s gratification — and the tension between the two gives love here something of combat. Desire may lack tenderness and be used to dominate rather than to give, leaving one side feeling that affection was stolen from them rather than offered. It is resolved when both want the same and say it. Repressed, it sours into irritation against whoever is secretly desired.
