Midheaven Square Sun

Midheaven represents your vocation, your place in the world and your reputation; Sun, who you truly are deep down, your willpower and what gives you energy.

The Sun square the Midheaven strains ambition: pride and the will to impose oneself that clash with authority, and effort spent to be recognised. Well lived, it gives strength of character to win one’s own position.

The square places the Sun near the Ascendant or the Descendant: personal identity or close relationships clash with the professional direction. Near the Ascendant, the person wants to do things their own way and tolerates hierarchy badly; near the Descendant, partners and associates pull the career elsewhere. It is not a position of blockage but of friction, and friction gives heat. Many find in it the engine to create their own place instead of waiting for someone to grant it.
