The Essential Dignities
Essential dignity measures a planet's strength by the place it occupies in the zodiac — whether in its own home or in foreign ground. It is one of the keys to judgement in the natal chart.
The dignities
- Domicile — its own sign (the greatest strength).
- Exaltation — the sign where it is exalted.
- Triplicity — by element and by sect (day or night).
- Terms and faces — minor divisions of the sign.
The debilities
A planet in the sign opposite its domicile is in detriment; opposite its exaltation, in fall. There it operates with difficulty.
The Almuten
Adding up the dignities at a given degree reveals the planet that most governs it — the almuten. The site computes the chart's Almuten Figuris by Ibn Ezra's method.
In the chart
The site's natal chart uses Dorothean triplicities, Egyptian terms and Chaldean faces.
