Mars in Taurus

Mars represents your energy, your desire and the courage to act. In Taurus, it expresses itself with calm, steadiness and a love of what is solid.

Mars descends into Taurus — fixed earth, house of Venus — and stands here in his detriment, a guest on soil belonging to the contrary star. His ardent, dry nature is a stranger to this slow earth, moist with pleasure and delay; the fire that would rend is here made to plough. Venus asks for delight, for gentle possession, for the peace of the senses — and Mars, who knows not how to take delight, is held like an ox in the yoke, all his strength in his shoulders and nowhere to run. It inclines to a wrath slow to kindle but terrible in coming, to a rancour that broods and does not forget; to a stubbornness that nothing shifts. It gives vigour for the hard labour of the land and for what is won by patient muscle. But passion here turns to covetousness, and the fight becomes a contest over goods and cattle. The danger is that of a force jammed fast: rooted in place, fierce only when at last they goad it.
