Mars — the lesser malefic, hot and dry in excess, fiery and impetuous — in the first house, that of life, the body, and the person, expresses itself in full, being an angle, and stamps the native with its mark of fire. It inclines toward an ardent, courageous, and combative temperament, a restless energy, and a ready disposition for action and defence. It gives bodily vigour and daring, but also impatience, quick anger, and a will to rush headlong; the body risks scars, blows, burns, or fevers, above all in the head and face. Strong and dignified in its sign, it makes a brave, energetic, and enterprising person who wins by initiative; impeded, it descends into violence, rashness, and a taste for strife, exposing the body to accidents and the native to enmities born of its own impetus.
