Mars in House 4

Mars represents your energy, your desire and the courage to act. House 4 is the house of your roots: home, family, what you inherit and your parents (in the old tradition, the father above all). It's your innermost foundation, and also where everything ends — the harbour you come back to.

In the fourth house — of home, parents, roots, immovable goods, and the end of life —, Mars meets an angle, where it acts in full, and brings discord to the very foundation of existence. It inclines toward an agitated or conflictual home, a severe, choleric, or absent father, and disputes over lands, houses, and inheritances; there is risk of harm to property by fire, violence, or litigation, and an end of life that may be restless or marked by struggle. Well disposed, it gives energy to raise and defend one’s home and roots won by main force; ill-disposed, it sets the family ablaze with discord, loses immovable goods, and makes old age a tumult without repose.
