Mars in House 4
Mars represents your energy, your desire and the courage to act. House 4 is the house of your roots: home, family, what you inherit and your parents (in the old tradition, the father above all). It's your innermost foundation, and also where everything ends — the harbour you come back to.
In the fourth house — of home, of parents, of roots, of real estate, and of the end of life — Mars finds an angle, and upon it he acts in full force, with all the accidental dignity of the bottom of the sky. But it is a house held difficult, the most hidden of the chart, and the heat of Mars comes here to the foundation of all things. Determined to the home, he inclines to discord behind one's own doors, to the father severe or absent, to the house where the fire burns too near the beam. It tends to changes of dwelling made by rupture, to land disputed, to inheritance won or lost in strife. It gives a spirit to raise a house by one's own hand, roots driven down with hardship. Upon the end of life he casts his mark of iron and haste. He works here in the depths, far from sight, where the force tills the subsoil. But how it tills — whether deep or undermining — is told by the sign that lodges him.
