Mars in House 8

Mars represents your energy, your desire and the courage to act. House 8 is the house of what you share and what comes from outside: inheritances, other people's resources, debts, and the major upheavals and losses. It's a deep and demanding place, of fears and of transformation.

In the eighth house — of death, of fear, of the goods of others, and of inheritances — Mars settles in a succedent house, where his force acts with half-measure vigour, short of the full of an angle. An averse house, held shadowy, where the end dwells and what comes of it; the heat of Mars deepens here into what is feared. It inclines to death sudden or violent by his very nature, to peril of iron and fire, to the fear that arms the hand. Determined to the goods of others, he gives dispute over inheritances and dowries, money of others won or lost in litigation. It tends to courage in the face of death, to the daring that gambles with the end, to spirit in the extremest crises. The force draws in here to the threshold of the dark, where few dare set foot. It gives vigour for what demands a descent into the depths. But how it descends — whether it conquers or sinks — is told by the sign that lodges him.
