The fifth house is that of children, pleasures, games, and all that is made for delight. The Sun expresses itself here at half strength (succedent) and lights up this domain with its nobility. It inclines toward worthy children who are a source of pride — sons especially, in the traditional reading —, toward pleasures of good taste, and toward a magnanimous, creative, life-loving nature; it favours all that is done for brilliance and distinction — art, spectacle, the noble game, ventures that make a name. Dignified in its sign, it promises honoured offspring and a life of generous enjoyments; afflicted, it brings pride wounded by the children, grief over offspring, or costly pleasures that serve vanity more than joy.
