Venus in Scorpio
Venus represents what you love, what gives you pleasure and the things you value. In Scorpio, it expresses itself with intensity and depth, all or nothing.
Venus is here in its detriment, in Scorpio — fixed water ruled by Mars. The gentle star lodges again in the house of the warrior, and in deep and fixed water its desire of union grows turbid and deepens. It inclines to an intense, possessive and secret love, that mingles passion with power and pleasure with torment; the desire of union seeks total fusion, and is not content with the surface. It gives ardent and jealous affections, an attraction to the forbidden and to hidden pleasures, fierce fidelity or fierce revenge alike. The concord that Venus brings is here at war with itself: it harmonises by absolute surrender, but poisons itself with suspicion and dominion. It tends to a magnetic and veiled beauty, of disturbing depth. The danger is obsession: what ought to unite and sweeten churns into longing and into fall, and the pleasure always burns close to the pain. There is depth, but rarely peace.
