Mars in House 8

Mars represents your energy, your desire and the courage to act. House 8 is the house of what you share and what comes from outside: inheritances, other people's resources, debts, and the major upheavals and losses. It's a deep and demanding place, of fears and of transformation.

In the eighth house — of death, of fear, and of the goods that come from others —, Mars expresses itself at half strength (succedent) and in an averse and ill-omened house, where its violent nature is to be taken with the greatest caution. Tradition links it to a sudden, violent, feverish death, or one by iron and fire — reading always the manner and never the term, which it is not for the astrologer to fix —, and to a life exposed to risks and to vivid fears. As for others’ goods — dowries, inheritances, the partner’s resources —, it brings disputes, debts, and losses through strife. Well disposed, it gives courage before danger and profit wrested from the goods of others; ill-disposed, it multiplies the risks, the quarrels over inheritances, and the wear of a fear that will not settle.
