Mercury in Aquarius

In Aquarius — fixed air, ruled by Saturn — Mercury is peregrine, without a house of its own, but the air conforms to its wit and the fixity of Saturn gives it constancy of judgement. The mind is original, broad, given to general ideas and to systems; it reasons by principles and holds to what it has conceived with rare firmness. The word is clear, rational, turned toward the common and toward friends and companies. It inclines to the study of the laws of things, to invention, to an eloquence that persuades by reason and not by affection. It tends to defend its convictions with quiet stubbornness. It gives a talent for science, for faithful friendship, for projecting what does not yet exist. The danger lies in rigidity: to become captive to its own theories, to prefer the abstract idea to the concrete person, to fix a position and petrify in it when understanding asked for movement.
