In Libra — cardinal air, ruled by Venus — Mercury is peregrine, without a house of its own, received by Venus in a dwelling of air that suits its wit. Hence a balanced mind, given to comparison and to just measure, that weighs the two pans before inclining. The word is courteous, harmonious, skilled in agreement and in negotiation; it seeks the middle course and consensus. It inclines to impartial judgement, to an eloquence that reconciles, to dealing with partners and associates, to the art of measuring contracts and reasons. The danger lies in indecision: to weigh without end and never conclude, to please all by wounding none, to let the search for the fair agreement slacken the nerve of firm judgement.
