Mercury in Taurus
Mercury represents the way you think, speak and learn. In Taurus, it expresses itself with calm, steadiness and a love of what is solid.
In Taurus — fixed earth, ruled by Venus — Mercury is peregrine, without dignity to sustain it, but received by a gentle hand; it takes from the lady of the sign a sweet slowness and a patient firmness. The mind here does not run, it settles: it thinks slowly, is long in forming a judgement and, once formed, does not let it go. The word is measured, grave, of pleasant timbre, given to concrete things and to what can be touched, counted and kept. It inclines to the prudent reckoning of goods, to patient commerce, to an eloquence that persuades by calm and not by transport. It tends to fix an opinion and to defend it with the stubbornness of a deep root. It gives practical good sense, tenacious memory, a taste for useful matter and for secure profit. The danger lies in obstinacy: refusing the new idea only because it is new, mistaking slowness for depth and letting the thought grow moss where it ought to run.
