Dignity

You now have three facts about each planet: its nature, its sign, its house. The obvious next question is the one a beginner asks and a tradition answers carefully — is it any good there?

Essential dignity is the measure. It asks how much the sign a planet occupies agrees with the planet’s own nature. Where they agree, the planet acts with ease, quality, and the ability to keep what it accomplishes. Where they disagree, it still acts — it does not stop being itself — but at greater cost and with less durable results.

Two cautions before the tables.

Dignity is not merit and it is not fortune. A dignified malefic is a malefic that gets its way. And dignity qualifies whatever the planet signifies in your chart — a person, a subject, an object — not the native’s worth.
