The ninth house — of long journeys, faith, religion, philosophy, wisdom, and God — is the joy of the Sun: called by tradition the “house of God”, it is here that the greater luminary expresses itself with particular dignity, though cadent. It inclines toward a luminous and elevated faith, a wise, just, truth-loving spirit, and honours won in religion, philosophy, law, or teaching; long journeys tend to bring recognition and to open horizons, and foreign lands may be the stage of eminence. Well disposed, it makes a sage, master, or man of faith who is respected, of an enlightened mind; afflicted, it brings pride in one’s own knowledge, dogmatism, or honourable setbacks in journeys and beliefs.
