Mercury in House 5

Mercury represents the way you think, speak and learn. House 5 is the house of pleasure and creation: children, love affairs, games, art and everything you do for the sheer joy of it. It's where life is celebrated and something new is brought into being.

In the fifth house — of children, of pleasures, of play and of creation — Mercury is in a succedent house, of middling strength, a house of good nature where Venus has its joy and where the spirit opens to delight. Determined to this house, it sets the wit to the service of pleasure: invention, art, jest, the game of skill and calculation. It inclines to a fertile and playful mind, given to letters of recreation, to spectacle, to the love-message, to all that is created for pleasure. It gives a talent for teaching and amusing, a knack for children and their instruction, variable luck in the wagers that ask for head more than for chance. It tends to loves born of conversation and of wit. As the planet takes the tone of what accompanies it and we have not yet declared its condition here, it remains to be seen whether such pleasures bear fruit or scatter.
