Mercury in House 5
Mercury represents the way you think, speak and learn. House 5 is the house of pleasure and creation: children, love affairs, games, art and everything you do for the sheer joy of it. It's where life is celebrated and something new is brought into being.
The fifth house is that of children, pleasures, games, and all that is made for delight. Mercury expresses itself here at half strength (succedent) and gives this domain its cast of ingenuity and lightness. It inclines toward clever, lively children given to letters, toward pleasures of the mind — reading, games of skill, conversation, art, and writing —, and toward a nimble and inventive creativity; it favours speculation made with calculation and expression by talent and the word. Dignified in its sign, it gives intelligent offspring and a life of cultured and ingenious enjoyments; afflicted, it brings restlessness or grief over the children, and losses in gaming through too much trust in one’s own cleverness.
