Mercury in House 4
Mercury represents the way you think, speak and learn. House 4 is the house of your roots: home, family, what you inherit and your parents (in the old tradition, the father above all). It's your innermost foundation, and also where everything ends — the harbour you come back to.
In the fourth house — of home, of parents, of roots, of real estate and of the end of life — Mercury finds an angle, among the strong houses, but a house of grave nature, the bottom of the heavens where all is gathered in and concluded. Determined to this house, it carries the wit indoors: to the memory of lineage, to the matters of the land and the inheritance, to the knowing that is kept in the secret of the house. It inclines to a mind turned toward origins, toward the documents and titles of the patrimony, toward study made in seclusion. It gives a knack for administering real estate and goods of root, for tending to the parents and to what comes from them, for preparing with intelligence the serene end of life. It tends to changes of dwelling and to thought that digs deep. As Mercury here has not yet shown whether it is strong or weakened, it remains to know what fruit it gives in these roots.
