Mercury in House 4
Mercury represents the way you think, speak and learn. House 4 is the house of your roots: home, family, what you inherit and your parents (in the old tradition, the father above all). It's your innermost foundation, and also where everything ends — the harbour you come back to.
In the fourth house — of home, parents, roots, immovable goods, and the end of life —, Mercury meets an angle, where it acts in full, and ties ingenuity to the very foundation of existence. It inclines toward a home where learning and the word are cultivated, a family or a father of letters, craft, or commerce, and an interest in origin, tradition, and the records of the house; it favours dealings and contracts tied to real estate and property, and gives an end of life active in mind, devoted to study or writing. Dignified in its sign, it gives roots where thought flourishes and profit through goods handled with cleverness; afflicted, it entangles the home in disputes and papers, or a restlessness that will not settle.
