The ninth house is that of long journeys, faith, religion, philosophy, and higher learning. Saturn expresses itself here weakened (cadent), but its weight marries the depth of this house. It inclines toward a serious, austere, and traditional religiosity, toward a patient and disciplined philosophical mind, and toward a wisdom won through trial and time rather than sudden inspiration. Long journeys tend to be by duty, hardship, or in advanced age. Well disposed, it makes a grave and deep spirit, a master or scholar of long breath, faithful to a sober creed; ill-disposed, it hardens all into heavy doubt, dogmatism, or reverses in journeys and studies.
