Saturn in House 12
Saturn represents your responsible side, your limits and what you build through effort. House 12 is the house of what stays hidden: retreat, what goes on behind the scenes, secret fears and what holds you back within. It's a difficult place, but also one of silence and of the inner life.
The twelfth house — of hidden enemies, confinement, grave illness, and sorrows — is cadent and averse, but it is also the joy of Saturn: the greater malefic is here on its own ground, and its harm, though real, expresses itself more naturally and with less stridency than in other houses — tradition holds that joy strengthens above all in the cadent houses, and this is its own. It inclines toward a life with spells of retreat, solitude, or seclusion — by choice, duty, or imposition —, toward persistent secret enemies, and toward silent trials. It favours, however, the contemplative, monastic, or behind-the-scenes life, patient work far from sight, and the temper to bear what would defeat others. Strong in its sign, it gives inner depth, endurance, and mastery over one’s own ills; afflicted, it shuts all into isolation, fear, lingering illness, and setbacks that come from unseen hands.
