Jupiter in House 12

Jupiter represents the part of you that trusts, grows and seeks meaning. House 12 is the house of what stays hidden: retreat, what goes on behind the scenes, secret fears and what holds you back within. It's a difficult place, but also one of silence and of the inner life.

In the twelfth house — of hidden enemies, of confinement, of grave illness, of institutions, and of sorrows — Jupiter is determined to what is hidden and hampered, in the most painful of places. A cadent and averse house, of the bad ones, the joy of Saturn and not his own. Here the greater benefic descends into captivity and shadow: it inclines, even so, to secret enemies disarmed, to perils that turn aside, to support in confinement, to consolation in sorrow. It gives charity exercised with prisoners and the sick, a faith that sustains in tribulation, refuge in monasteries and houses of retreat, succour that comes when all seems lost. It signifies mercy in great trials and the hand of God in adversity. But the house is the most afflicted of all, and it smothers the light of the star: his blessing arrives disguised as relief more than as plenty. How much it succours in the shadow remains for the movement.
