Saturn represents your responsible side, your limits and what you build through effort. House 12 is the house of what stays hidden: retreat, what goes on behind the scenes, secret fears and what holds you back within. It's a difficult place, but also one of silence and of the inner life.
In the twelfth house — of hidden enemies, of confinement, of grave illness, of institutions, and of sorrows — Saturn stands in his own joy: though cadent and averse, and among the most ill-omened houses of the chart, it is the place that tradition consecrates to him, and few planets are so at home in the dark as the old man in the twelfth. Here his nature of weight, withdrawal, and limit finds its proper domain — solitude, the silent work, what passes far from sight, time served in prison, cloister, or illness. It inclines to a life with zones of retreat and silence, to trials faced alone, to an old weight carried without showing it, and at times to enemies who act in the shadow. But, being his joy, Saturn gives here also a rare strength to bear what would crush others, and a wisdom born of privation: what is learned in this withdrawal is deep and is his alone.
